An Introduction To Sivananda Yoga
Sivananda Yoga is a journey towards physical and spiritual wellness. You can experience health and energy from the world famous system of yoga developed by Swami Sivananda. A typical Sivananda Yoga practice lasts 90 minutes and begins with an initial relaxation (Savasana), breathing exercises (Pranayama), a complete warm-up (Surya Namaskar/Sun Salutations), a sequence of 12 postures (Asanas) and a final relaxation (Savasana). Relaxation in between each asanas is essential, to reduce the build up of lactic acid and to allow the vital energy (Prana) to recharge the body. We run a weekly timetable of mixed level Sivananda sequence yoga classes, including beginners, open classes and specially adapted Sivananda pregnancy and elderly classes.

Deep breathing (Pranayama) exercises is to cleanse and establish a calm mental attitude, overcome your poor breathing habits, increase your energy level, sharpen inner focus and relax your mind. These are followed by a classical sequence of 12 specific yoga postures and variations of poses which when practiced regularly, help to develop strength, balance, flexibility, concentration, general health and well- being. The classes always end with a blissful guided deep relaxation to encourage further stress-release and inner healing.
